Blue white refined porcelain cup

Porcelain cup with fine "white blue" patterns reminiscent of certain Provençal designs. These are very detailed, and the fine golden friezes on the edges of the cup and the base beautifully frame the blue of the flowers. A small touch of gold found on the stylized handle enhances its noble character. 

Porcelain is fine; it was said "Chinese porcelain" at a time when having objects made of Chinese porcelain was a sign of great class. The quality has remained since.

The "white blue" technique is the origin of beautiful creations of enamel patterns: The cobalt blue pigment was applied to the stoneware paste, under a transparent glaze, and then fired at very high temperatures.
